Waking Up At 5:30am Everyday To Defeat Mediocrity

My Problem

I’m tired of being lazy.

I’m in a rut.

I had been rolling out of bed at 8:10am. My job starts at 8:30am.

I have a dog that needs walking. I usually take her quickly to the field behind my house, so she can have a quick shit. Then I bring her back to the house, feed her, brush my teeth, and drive to work.

I do this 5 days a week + waste my weekend mornings.

Almost all my days start like this.

Especially after my girlfriend broke up with me.

Which made me low-key depressed.

But it also made me question my values and purpose.

I know I have a purpose. But I need to figure out how to use my time effectively.

Otherwise, all of my attention and power will be absorbed by the matrix. By the doom scroll, honey traps, or mindless degenerate online content.

The act of waking up earlier and exercising is a good beginning to my journey.

My Solution

I’m going to wake up at 5:30am every day.

I live next to a cycle path. I am going to run at a high intensity for one kilometer to the nearest village, before sprinting back.

And my dog will join me.

This is my first challenge. Before changing my diet, before socializing more, and before reading more.

At 11pm I’m normally in bed. Scrolling through my phone. Then I keep reaching for it over the next couple hours. I want to check on things that have arisen in my mind.

To wake up at 5:30am I have to stop this.

The hours that I spent wasting on social media and YouTube before bed, will be exchanged with more purposeful time spent in the early morning hours.

A quick run, should bring me back home within 10-12 minutes. The very act of sprinting as hard as I can will wake me up more effectively than the strongest cup of coffee.

Then I have about 2 hours 40 minutes to spend before I have to leave for work.

I am exchanging my wasted hours in bed scrolling through my phone, to energized time in the morning.

Accountability

I am creating an Instagram account solely to hold me accountable. Until it becomes a daily habit. Until it becomes a pleasure.
